Do you have board members with experience of delivering efficiencies and managing change? (I.e., HR, growth management, risk, compliance and change management)    
Do you have board members with experience of planning and managing business growth or mergers and acquisitions?    
Does the board have experience at the right scale i.e. at least as large as the budget of the trust?     
Do you have sufficient technical competency in procurement, premises and facilities management on your board?    
Are your board members sufficiently curious and challenging to compare performance objectively with other trusts and challenge the status quo?    
Are your members sufficiently discrete from your trustees/non-executive directors to ensure effective scrutiny? (I.e., there is a minority and no more than two members are also trustees)    
Are your trustees/non-executive directors sufficiently discrete from your local governing bodies/academy councils to ensure effective trust-wide decision making?    
Is your board experienced in managing strategic risk? Can your board confidently articulate your top three or five risks and how they are being mitigated?    
Does your board contain trustees/non-executive directors with business expertise that have joined the trust from outside the academies (externally sourced)?    
Does your board advise and guide you on 5-10 years strategic planning?    
In a PR crisis, would your board have the expertise to be able to proactively guide and support you?
