We are pleased to announce that Academy Ambassadors Board Development Day 2019 will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London on Monday 11th November 2019. The theme of this year's event is 'Purposeful Leadership - Effective and Ethical Governance'.

Please note that this is an event notification for your diary, an official invitation and further event details will follow. Places will be limited and bookings will open shortly.

For the past four years the Board Development Day has brought together an exceptional array of high-calibre directors from trusts across England for a day of networking and professional development. The event provides MAT board members with insight from world-class trusts, practical board-level tools and the opportunity to share best practice. Delegates are able to meet and engage with Regional Schools Commissioners.

Meet

The day includes structured opportunities to network with trust and business leaders in your region, including Chairs, Regional Schools Commissioners and senior Education and Skills Funding Agency staff. Take away senior connections and become an active member of the Academy Ambassadors alumni – a network of exceptional non-executive director alumni who are able to support one another as part of a self-improving system.

Develop

Book a bespoke session for advice from our expert partners who will be running small surgeries on key issues of academy governance and board development. Topics will include estate management, governance structures and systems, board recruitment and development and working with the executive. Note: surgeries to be announced soon.

Hear

Attendees will learn from leading trust boards on enhancing the performance of their trust. Topics include the board’s eye view on performance, financial governance, aligning financial planning with the curriculum to achieve better academic outcomes and tackling disadvantage. The focus is on governance and the content highly tailored to those from a non-education background.

Speaker and discussion themes:
  • Leadership
  • Financial Governance in MATs: including Curriculum-Led Financial Planning
  • Tackling Disadvantage
  • Regional Schools Commissioner Question Time

In response to demand, this year’s event includes a wider range of speakers.  We would like to hear from you on the subjects of greatest import to your trust and which trusts and speakers you would most like to hear from. Please email here with speaker recommendations.
