Education and Employers

The Education and Employers charity aims to ensure that every school and college has an effective partnership with employers to provide students with the inspiration, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential.

The Charity runs Inspiring the Future which connects state-funded schools and colleges with employers and business leaders. School leaders can easily and at no cost invite volunteers to visit and speak to young people about their job, career and the educational route that they took. Following requests from primary schools, Inspiring the Future has now been extended to primary schools under the name Primary Futures.

ASL

Ambition School Leadership

Ambition School Leadership was formed in 2016 from education charities, The Future Leaders Trust and Teaching Leaders. By building a network of exceptional school leaders at all levels ASL aims to raise the achievement of children, regardless of background, and to provide them with equal choices and opportunities in life. Research by ASL demonstrates that leadership development for school leaders is an effective way to help eradicate educational disadvantage, proving our assertion that great leaders make great schools and great schools change lives.

Inspiring Governance

Academy Ambassadors only recruits non-executive directors, chairs, and members for multi-academy trusts. For other roles, Inspiring Governance is the online matchmaking service which connects skilled volunteers interested in serving as governors and trustees with schools in England. It also provides free, expert support for volunteers and governing bodies, as well as for employers wanting to run programmes for their staff serving as governors. Inspiring Governance is supported and funded by the Department for Education.

The service aims to:

  • Increase the number of volunteers, especially those with business-related skills and with diverse backgrounds, serving as governors and trustees in schools
  • Support governors matched through the service with training and resources, helping them be effective members of governing boards
